WHAT ARE THE FIVE MOST COMMON FEARS IN HIRING A DJ?

1. Is he or she going to show up?
2. Will they follow my instructions?
3. What if they play the wrong type of music?
4. Is their equipment of professional quality, reliable and
    complete?
5. Is the DJ going to look and be professional for my
    function?

Boogie Shoes Inc. has an answer to calming those fears in my IRON CLAD GUARANTEE. Right on my home page you have, in writing, the most comprehensive guarantee you can get which gives you the assurance that I'm going do whatever is humanly possible to make sure I get it right for your event or you don't pay and make a $100 extra as my personal apology.

WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE?

After close to10 years in the DJ business, I have done well over a 1,211 successful weddings & events with clients ranging from Tamara Taggart (BCTV News) & Dave Genn of 54-40, CNN, the Morley brothers of Morley Mazda, U.B.C & Simon Fraser as well as many of the upsacale, major hotels to the smaller community centers throughout the lower mainland. I also have many years experience as a professional and semi-pro musician performing in Canada, the U.S. & throughout South East Asia.

DO YOU HAVE CURRENT REFERENCES?

Yes I do. I can provide inquiring clients with an up to date reference list.

WHAT ATTIRE DO YOU WEAR TO EVENTS?

I wear the appropriate attire according to each event. For weddings, and more formal events, I will wear a dress shirt, tie & dress slacks. I can also wear a dress jacket if requested. For less formal occasions, I wear a nice shirt and dress slacks. I always ask the client what is the proper dress code for their event.

CAN I REQUEST THE MUSIC I WANT PLAYED AT MY EVENT?

Yes, you can. It is your event and my job is to make your function as musically satisfying as I possibly can. You can also request the songs you don’t want to hear. Your guests are also free to make requests, according to your instructions.

IS YOUR EQUIPMENT UP TO DATE?

Yes it is. My setup is very clean and modern. I have the latest software and hardware to guarantee you a great sounding and trouble free musical experience.

IS YOUR SONG LIST UP TO DATE?

Yes. With a huge music library, I have musical genres all the way from the 40s to today’s hits. I also have ethnic music such as Salsa, Meringue, Paso Double, Bhangra, Hindi (Bollywood), Cuban, Punjabi, Japanese, Persian, Ukrainian, Italian and Croatian to name a few. If I don’t have it, I will do my utmost to get it before your event.

DO YOU HAVE BACKUP EQUIPMENT?

Yes, although I have never had to use it.

DO YOU HAVE EXTRA EQUIPMENT?

My 4 & 7 hour DJ packages come with a complete system & everything needed for your function. If you do need extra equipment such as wireless microphones, projectors, extra speakers, lighting, etc., they are available.

DO YOU HAVE A FREE MUSIC CONSULTATION?

A one hour meeting to review the detailed checklist & wedding music consultation is included as part of my DJ package. Any meetings after that are $35 an hour, minimum 1 hour charge.

DO YOU HAVE KARAOKE?

Karaoke is lots of fun and I have a great karaoke setup with over 120,000 songs available and the ability to obtain just about any karaoke request you may have. Please note that a good sounding karaoke setup requires that I bring more equipment and spend more time setting up and tearing down, as well as hosting the event. Hence, karaoke is an extra charge. That being said, if you just want a very basic karaoke setup, it can be done for a very nominal charge on top of the DJ price.

DO YOU TRAVEL OUT OF THE LOWER MAINLAND AREA?

I will travel out of what I consider the lower mainland area, which is a 1 hour round trip radius from my location, but a travel charge may apply. Below is information on where extra travel charges may apply.

Travel surcharge may apply North of Horseshoe Bay, Abbotsford & East of Abbotsford, East of Pitt Meadows, South Surrey, The Gulf Islands, Vancouver Island. Additional audio charges for more than 300 people attending. Additional charge may apply for wedding ceremony.

WHAT IS CONSIDERED AN MC SERVICE?

MC services, for which there is an extra charge, are when the DJ is basically hosting the event and can be all or some of the following; welcoming the guests, introducing the bridal party, bride & groom, announcing when supper begins, calling for tables to go to the banquet line, other announcements, introducing speech makers. Basically, anything that requires any hosting before the first dance and what your MC normally should do.

While I am very happy to MC your event, there is an extra charge for MC services and they are not automatically included in the DJ services.

WHAT USES AND /OR PLUG INS DO YOU ALLOW IN YOUR PA SYSTEM?

I am always ready to work with you to provide whatever you need to make your event a success however, I allow only the use and plug ins as agreed to on the contract and stated on my checklist. Any other uses such as karaoke when not on the contract, extra microphones, recording devices or playback devices, effect units, etc. are extra work and use of my resources. Consequently, there is an extra charge for these services regardless if they are mine or from an external source when they use my system and time.

MAY I CHANGE THE STARTING TIMES ON THE CONTRACT ONCE THE CONTRACT IS SIGNED?

You cannot change the time arbitrarily without consultation with me. That would be a breech of contract. As long as you notify me of any changes on the times of the contract two weeks before, and we both agree, then there should be no problem. There will an up charge if the time is longer, especially where I am doing the wedding ceremony and the wait between the ending of the ceremony and start time of the reception has increased. If you are not sure of your reception time, I would suggest going for a 4 hour package and then if you need longer, we can arrange it.

CAN YOU DO SPECIAL MIXES?

I am very happy to create special mixes for your event however, special mixes that I am requested to make are not included in the DJ packages. These require extra work and so there will be a charge for doing customized mixes...$75 an hour, minimum 1 hour. Mixes will not be attempted where the request is less than 6 weeks in advance. This is to ensure that I have plenty of time to do the special mix and you have had time to approve the mix created.

DO YOU HAVE (YOUR FAVORITE SONG) AVAILABLE?

Locating songs, especially those that are very new and may not be available yet or those that are obscure, can be very difficult to find. In order for me to have time to locate any music I don’t have, organize and plan your customized play list, I must ask that all song requests be in 3 weeks before the event. I will do my best, but some music may be impossible to locate and all song requests cannot be guaranteed, although I almost always am able to get 99% to 100% of any song requests. Music requests later than 3 three weeks before the event also cannot be guaranteed to be in your play list in time for your event.

WHAT OTHER SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE?

Games, Contests, MC Hosting, Wedding Ceremony Music, Extra Equipment, professional microphones, Karaoke is available with over 120,000 Songs, front projectors and screens,10,000 music videos for projection on a large screen or wall of your venue, GOBO lighting for projection of your customized graphic or the bride and groom's name on the dance floor or wall of your venue. GOBO lighting will also project company logos at company events.

Please note: Outdoor events require a contingency plan in case of rain. Electricity and water do not mix and DJ events cannot be expected to go on, or continue in wet or damp weather.
